The ePortfolio promotes a growth mindset, builds self-esteem, and develops the learner's motivation to embrace challenges. It is both a product and a process that reflects my achievements and highlights my work. COVA will allow students to take control of their learning by giving them choices over how they show what they know in the learning environment (Harapnuik, 2021).ePortfolios provide authentic engagement, ownership, and opportunities to build their skills in the learning environment.

In my ESL-sheltered classroom, students come from various or no educational backgrounds. With assistance from technology, eportfolios will allow students to display prior knowledge, whether academic or knowledge, through life experiences from their native country. Students will also share their stories through pictures and written experiences of transitioning to their new home country. It will allow peer-to-peer interactions with classmates who speak other languages with whom they usually would not communicate. This will enable students to think more in-depth about their learning.

When students take ownership of their knowledge, they are more likely to be invested in their education,  try more complex tasks,  and be more engaged in their academic work. Over the years, I have witnessed students become more persistent when faced with setbacks,  become better at critical thinking and problem-solving, and more confident when asking questions and sharing ideas when they take ownership of the learning, whether it be a lab experiment or project-based group assignment.
